This vegetable is also known as green bottle goard. The inside resembles that of a courgette, is white and has a bland taste. That makes it ideal for stir-frying, because it soakes up the flavors of marinades, spices and sauces very well.
Cooking with green bottle goard:
Remove the peel with a peeler and cut into large disks of approximately 0.5 to 1 centimeter thick. You can now bake it in olive oil or cut it into smaller pieces. If you bake them ten minutes in a wok or pan with some garlic and onion, they are delicious and al dente.
Is lauki healthy?
There’s vitamin C and the seeds contain omega 3 and 6. They have, in addition to the these acids, also a diuretic effect.
If you have cut the bottle gourd, you can put it in foil and hold it for five days in the refrigerator. Uncut it preserves well at room temperature for approximately 14 days.
